This action plan for climate adaptation applies to 2025–2027, but looks forward to 2030. The action plan is based on the Swedish Geotechnical Institute's (SGI's) mission to reduce the risks of landslides, rock falls and coastal erosion and to contribute to sustainable development in a changing climate. The action goals to achieve this visionary authority goal, which encompasses SGI's entire area of operation, are:

• SGI will develop and disseminate knowledge about climate-driven geotechnical risks within four of the national risk areas,

• SGI will develop and disseminated methods for nature-based solutions to reduce coastal erosion and stabilise slopes,

• SGI will implement advice and recommendations on climate adaptation to support sustainable municipal planning, and

• Physical climate adaptation measures for landslides, avalanches and coastal erosion will be implemented and followed up on.

A changing climate can contribute to an increased spread of PFAS and other pollutants that are already present in the landscape and those that will be added in the future. We see that we have an important role in guiding municipalities in how they can assess and manage these risks. Since SGI is primarily a knowledge-producing authority, continued dialogue and cooperation within the civil engineering sector is essential to achieving our authority goal.
