The law no. 1.456 establishes an Environmental Code for Monaco in order to sustainably manage and protect the environment against all forms of pollution, contribute to climate change mitigation efforts and energy transition, and other environmental and health related purposes.
The Code stipulates that the State can legally order an environmental impact assessment, including when there are possible impacts on the climate. The second book on energy (Livre II Energie) mentions that energy activities on Monaco's soil must take climate change into account and reduce greenhouse gases emissions via renewable energy use and enhanced energy efficiency.
