This Act mandates that the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries establish and implement a basic plan for the construction of green shipping routes every five years, and allows for the designation and public announcement of routes connecting two or more eco-friendly ports where eco-friendly vessels operate as green shipping routes.In addition, the government is enabled to provide support if port authorities and dock operating companies sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with domestic and foreign organizations regarding the establishment of green shipping routes.The Green Shipping Route Support Council was established as a consultative and coordinating body for the construction and operation of green shipping routes, and a basis was also laid to promote the training of specialized personnel, research and development (RD), and international cooperation projects.
