Belgium’s Federal Energy and Climate Plan (FECP) is the federal government’s contribution to the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP). The plan is structured around the five EU energy governance dimensions: decarbonisation (including renewable energy), energy efficiency, energy security, the internal energy market, and research, innovation, and competitiveness. It translates EU and international climate commitments into actions that fall under federal competences, while complementing the plans of Belgium’s three regions.The FECP focuses on accelerating the energy transition through fiscal incentives and regulatory reforms, including support for emission-free transport, renewable energy deployment, and energy-efficiency investments. It also includes measures to improve security of energy supply, strengthen energy infrastructure, support industrial competitiveness, and promote innovation and sustainable finance.
