Summary

These Regulations are made by the Prime Minister in exercise of powers conferred by sections 21, 22 and 30 of the Climate Change and Carbon Market Initiatives Act. These Regulations prohibit unregistered carbon trading and provide for the procedure to trade in carbon credits (as well as cooperative approaches and voluntary markets). There are also provisions on emission reduction initiatives; reporting; and emission allocations.
