Environmental Code

The Environmental Code contains various provisions relating to climate, including:

  1. Prohibitions on advertising relating to the marketing or promotion of fossil fuels, punishable by fines, and mandatory display of information on the environmental impact for goods and services (Article L229-61 to 67);
  2. Responsibilities of the High Council for Climate, an independent body attached to the Prime Minister (Article D132-1 to 7);
  3. Greenhouse gas emission assessments to be conducted by prescribed companies (Article R229-46 to 50); and
  4. The territorial climate-air-energy plans to be developed to coordinate energy transition, for Lyon and the public instiuttions of intermunicpal cooperation with their own taxation rules (Article R229-51 to 56).
