The Growth and Social Protection Strategy (GSPS) is a document setting out the governmental commitments to sustainable development. It is the most central and comprehensive policy developed by Dominica Island in the matter. The GSPS is prepared via an extensive consultation process of public servants. It was first published in April 2006 and is updated every four years. The current period spans the years 2014 to 2018.
The GSPS fosters the implementation of sound fiscal policy and administrative reform, sectoral strategies for growth and strategies for poverty reduction and social protection. Example of such sectors include transport, energy production and land use management. A monitoring system exists to assess the performance tools and mechanisms used for the GSPS and to analyse outputs of previous GSPS medium term documents.
