The National Flood Protection Plan IV (NFPP) was concived in the aftermath of the 2010 floods, the most devastating floods in Pakistan. The planning strategy is concious that flood management in the past has focused on structural measures (such as construction of dams) which have proven sufficient. Therefore, the NFPP IV implements integrated watershed management through structural and non-structural measures like flood forecasting and early warning, flood risk zoning, etc. The NFPP's flood protection investment plan envisions two phases of investment worth Rs.332.246 billion for a 10 year period until 2025.
