Summary

The National Security Policy for 2022-2026 provides a framework which articulates and contextualises major threats, and sets priority directions to improve national cohesion, economic security, defence and territorial integrity, internal security, foreign policy and human security. Under its human security objectives the policy emphasises the need to adopt climate-resilient agriculture, and mainstream climate adaptation more generally alongside disaster response mechanisms. It also notes water scarcity as a key risk, which is likely to increase in future and must be addressed.
