Summary

The Environment Act of 2024 sets a range of regulatory and administrative frameworks around environmental protection, of which it considers climate action to be a subset. It establishes a National Network for Sustainable Development, with the partial purpose of recommending climate adaptation and mitigation actions. The act also integrates climate into environmental impact assessments, and establishes a National Environment and Climate Change Fund. Lastly, the Ports Act (1998) is amended to stipulate that master plans for port development should include climate adaptation and mitigation assessments and provisions.
