Summary

This long-term sustainable development strategy, approved by Government Resolution No. 41 of 20 January 2021, also fulfils the role of the National Strategy for Regional Development of the Slovak Republic. It thus integrates sectoral priorities and regional and territorial development priorities. It is based on four principles: sustainability, the priority of quality of life over economic growth, efficiency based on synergies, and the integration of policies and their instruments.

In terms of environmental objectives, Slovakia 2030 is to ensure the protection, restoration and enhancement of natural resources, including ensuring the stability and health of ecosystems and their services, and the reflection of adaptation and mitigation measures to the adverse effects of climate change in all departmental strategic documents and municipal and regional development documents as an overriding public interest (e.g. in transport planning, energy, spatial planning, spatial planning, water management, land management, forestry, sustainable tourism, overall care of the countryside, etc.).
