The National Climate Change Plan (the Climate Plan) guides adaptation and mitigation efforts to reduce the adverse effects of climate change and the vulnerability of environmental, social, and economic systems.
The Resolution No. 03, dated September 14, 2023, provides for the update of the Climate Plan and defines it as an instrument of the National Policy on Climate Change (PNMC) to consolidate the strategies, plans, and targets of the Federal Executive Branch, contributing to the objectives of the Policy and to the achievement of the targets established in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement.

<p>Brazil’s National Mitigation Strategy is the emissions-reduction pillar of the Plano Clima 2024–2035 framework, establishing the country’s long-term pathway toward net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and supporting Brazil’s commitments under the Paris Agreement. The strategy provides national guidelines, emissions trajectories, and sectoral decarbonization pathways across key sectors including energy, industry, transport, cities, waste, agriculture, and land use. It aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through coordinated sectoral plans, technological innovation, sustainable land management, methane reduction, and low-carbon economic development. The strategy also incorporates monitoring, financing, governance, and just-transition mechanisms to align climate action with economic growth, competitiveness, and social inclusion.</p>

Due diligence is the idea that reasonable precautions should be taken to avoid causing harm to people, the environment, or society. It also involves identifying and mitigating risks before they occur.

Geohazards are adverse geological phenomenon's that are capable of causing widespread damage or loss to property, life and the environment, such as earthquakes, volcano eruptions and tsunamis. Climate change can increase the frequency and severity of some geohazards, such as landslides, and soil erosion.
