<p>The Norwegian government has a broad policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the economy. The government's policy is based on the fact that the transition will require a combination of instruments. Pricing emissions through climate taxes and participation in the EU's emissions trading system (EU ETS) will also be a main instrument in Norwegian climate policy in the future. Support for research and technological development is important for developing the necessary new solutions for emission reductions.</p>
<p>This white paper provides direction for the main lines of climate policy towards 2035, and presents the government's climate policy related to key areas of society: expertise and knowledge, business, the municipal sector and the food system.</p>
