<p>The CO₂ Regulation is the detailed implementing regulation for the <a href="https://www.gesetze.li/konso/2013358000" target="_self"><ins>CO₂-Act</ins></a> (“CO₂-Gesetz”) in Liechtenstein. While the CO₂-Act sets out the broad legal framework and objectives for reducing CO₂ emissions, the CO₂-Regulation specifies the concrete rules, technical definitions, obligations, and procedures needed to put that law into practice. It regulates the reduction of greenhouse gases (including CO₂ and others in CO₂-equivalents), defines terminology and measurement methods, sets out requirements for emission reduction measures, monitoring, reporting, and verification, and details how emissions credits or reduction projects can be certified and accounted for. The Regulation also includes rules for specific sectors such as vehicle emission limits, fuel characteristics, and sector-specific mitigation measures, and has been updated periodically to align with changes in Swiss law and to adjust technical requirements (e.g., vehicle fleet CO₂ targets).</p>
