<p>The Act aims to support the production of electricity from renewable energy sources through subsidised feed-in tariffs and investment grants. For certain types of green electricity bonuses can be granted on top of the standard feed-in tariff, for example when electricity and heat from renewable sources are generated in a high efficiency co-generation installation. The Act specifies targets for energy from different renewable energy sources. For 2010-2020 the following targets are set: hydro 1,000 MW, wind 2,000 MW, photovoltaic 1,200 MW, biomass and biogas 200 MW.</p>

Policy instruments are techniques or tools used by governing authorities to promote certain policies in order to achieve predetermined goals. Put simply, instruments are how a government tries to achieve its goals, with this taxonomy being focused on national policy instruments.

Risk is the potential for adverse consequences resulting from the dynamic interplay between (climate-related) hazards, exposure, and vulnerability of affected human or ecological systems.

Pollutants can damage plants, trees, habitats, and water bodies like rivers and lakes.
