The Australian Government has set a target to reduce emissions to 62-70% below 2005 levels by 2035. The Net Zero Plan sets out how Australia will achieve a fair, orderly and efficient transition to net zero. It provides a framework for action that builds on Australia’s natural strengths, to ensure all Australians benefit.
The Plan demonstrates how Australia can transition while:

<li>growing the economy</li>
<li>reducing cost pressures on households and businesses</li>
<li>creating new jobs.</li>
</ul>
The Plan identifies 5 priorities to guide Australia's transition to net zero:
<ul>
<li>Clean electricity across the economy.</li>
<li>Lowering emissions by electrification and efficiency.</li>
<li>Expanding clean fuel use.</li>
<li>Accelerating new technologies.</li>
<li>Net carbon removals scaled up.</li>
</ul>
The net zero plan is supported by six sector emissions reduction plans: electricity and energy; agriculture and land; the built environment; industry; resources; and transport.
