Summary

The Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy establishes criteria for classifying economic activities according to their socio-environmental and climatic impacts and is a cornerstone of Brazil's Ecological Transformation Plan. This edition of the Taxonomy covers the agriculture, LULUCF, manufacturing, energy generation (including electricity and gas), water, waste and decontamination, transport, social services, urban planning and information and telecommunications sectors, amongst others. The adoption of the taxonomy is voluntary in the first stage, with a gradual progression to mandatory adoption by January 2026.
