Climate Change Action Plan (CIPE Deliberation 17/2013)

The CIPE Delibera of 8 March 2013, No. 17 updates Italy’s National Action Plan for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, revising earlier policies to align them with European climate commitments and national decarbonisation strategies. The decision assesses Italy’s progress and remaining gap in meeting emission-reduction targets—particularly the EU requirement to cut emissions in non-ETS sectors by 13% by 2020 compared with 2005 levels—and sets out a package of policy measures to achieve these objectives. These include strengthening energy efficiency policies, promoting renewable energy, supporting green technologies, and financing climate-mitigation initiatives such as through the Kyoto Fund. Overall, the deliberation provides a strategic framework and priority actions for ministries to implement in order to support Italy’s transition toward a low-carbon economy and compliance with EU climate obligations.Previously, in June 2007, there was the CIPE Deliberation No. 135/2007 and before that the CIPE Deliberation No. 123/2002.
