The Decree sets out policies to manage, protect and ensure a sustainable development of coastal forests to cope with climate change. The policies are as following: 1) localities have to review and convert the coastal land areas planned for production forests that are eroded or affected by sand to coastal protection forests; 2) localities have to relocate construction works that affect protected coastal forests; 3) investment projects have to respect the regulations of the law on forest protection and development. PM Decision No.120/2015 approved the project on protection and development of coastal forests to cope with climate change in 2014-2020 period. The objectives are the following1) to promote the protection of coastal forests to cope with climate change and rising sea; 2) to alleviate natural disasters, protect sea dikes and infrastructure; 3) to conserve biodiversity; 4) to ensure socio-economic development and reinforce national defense and security.
