Summary

The Forest Strategy 2050 aims at adapting forests to climate change, climate protection, sustainable timber production and use, biodiversity and forest nature conservation, recreational use, and support for forest owners. The Strategy is guided by a vision for 2050 and sets out various milestones until 2030.


The milestones in furtherance of climate protection and climate adaptation by 2030 are as follows:


  • The climate protection contribution of forest and wood is maintained and expanded;
  • The use of wood from domestic forestry is expanded;
  • Establish a model for the remuneration of climate protection services;
  • Wind turbines in the forest contribute to the energy supply;
  • Implement action plans for the adaptation of forests;
  • Strengthen forest conversion;
  • Support measures for the adaptation of forests and for forest conversion; and
  • Establish monitoring of climate change.
