Summary

This plan succeeds the 2014-2018 Gender and Climate Change Action Plan. The Master Plan discusses the climate vulnerability context, economic and demographic context, and the role of women in the development of the nation.

The overall vision is institutionalising gender mainstreaming in adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and investments in mitigation, with the aim to create an equitable, climate resilient, and sustainable society. This is done by making it part of institutional climate change policies, programmes, strategies, and projects. The Master Plan contains objectives centred around the strengthening of gender responsive policies, strategies and increasing institutional capacity, and enhancing economic empowerment of women and increasing the emergency preparedness with consideration of the differential impacts of climate change on gender.
