Summary

Chile adopted the Plan de Acción Nacional de Cambio Climático 2017-2022 (PANCC-II) in 2017, coordinated by the Interministerial Technical Team on Climate Change, Equipo Técnico Interministerial de Cambio Climático.


This strategic policy document includes a target to reduce the intensity of CO2 emissions by at least 30% by 2030, the promotion of non-conventional renewable energies by promoting an energy efficiency law and reforesting 100,000 hectares of mainly native forest. It also defines 4 other pillars of climate action in addition to mitigation. These pillars are: Adaptation, Capacity Building, Development and Transfer of Technologies, and Financing.The plan has 16 specific objectives and 30 lines of action that are embodied in 96 measures, distributed across the four areas of action mentioned above. Adaptation is prioritised in key sectors such as forestry, agriculture, biodiversity, fisheries and aquaculture, health, infrastructure, water resources, energy, cities, and tourism.
