The National Hydrogen Strategy aims to develop hydrogen as a key energy carrier for Italy’s decarbonisation pathway, supporting the targets of the NECP and climate neutrality by 2050. Its main objectives are to expand the production of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen, stimulate demand in hard-to-electrify sectors such as industry and heavy transport, and develop dedicated infrastructure for hydrogen transport, storage and distribution. The strategy also seeks to build a national hydrogen value chain and industrial ecosystem, supported by investments and regulatory measures, including funding from Italy's RRF Plan.
