Summary

With a projection to 2030, the National Plan for Risk Reduction in Ecuador results from close collaboration between various National Decentralized Risk Management System actors and marks a significant milestone in the search for a safer and more resilient territory for all Ecuadorians. It is based on international principles and guidelines like the Sendai Framework. It is aligned with the objectives and commitments of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Ecuadorian National Development Plan.

The document is based on local and sectoral needs to advance risk reduction through six strategic objectives that can guide the country's efforts to increase knowledge about risk management, governance, control and regularization of land use, promote safe infrastructure, encourage education, communication and citizen participation and, finally, strengthen preparation for response.
