The National Climate Change Plan (the Climate Plan) guides adaptation and mitigation efforts to reduce the adverse effects of climate change and the vulnerability of environmental, social, and economic systems.
The Resolution No. 03, dated September 14, 2023, provides for the update of the Climate Plan and defines it as an instrument of the National Policy on Climate Change (PNMC) to consolidate the strategies, plans, and targets of the Federal Executive Branch, contributing to the objectives of the Policy and to the achievement of the targets established in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement.

Brazil's Adaptation Climate Plan: Biodiversity Thematic Plan

This Thematic Biodiversity Plan is part of Brazil's Adaptation Climate Plan. In the current context of climate change and shifting production and consumption patterns, Brazil faces significant challenges related to its biodiversity. Therefore, the main objective of this Plan is to prevent the loss of biodiversity in the short, medium, and long term.
The Plan brings 3 specific objectives:

<li>Ensure urgent management actions to halt the extinction of threatened species and population declines;</li>
<li>Ensure management actions to reduce the loss of ecosystem resilience, while maintaining and strengthening the provision of associated ecosystem services; and</li>
<li>Increase landscape connectivity to enable biodiversity to adapt to climate change.</li>
</ul>
