2030 Strategic Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Achieve Green Growth in the Livestock Industry

2024MitigationPolicyPlanMore details
Sectors: Agriculture

The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the livestock industry to 7.7 million tonnes, down by 18% from 9.4 million tonnes in 2018. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will improve the treatment of livestock waste by transforming it into bioenergy, biochar, and solid fuels; carry out livestock management by providing low-methane-emitting feed; and improve the productivity of livestock species.

The Strategy contains measures to:

  1. Directly reduce the amount of generation by managing greenhouse gas emissions in the livestock sector;
  2. Reduce greenhouse gases in other fields by using the livestock industry
  3. Shifting the field's high-in-feed livestock breeding practice to low-in-low-in and low-emission structure; and
  4. Induce the voluntary carbon reduction of farmers to improve the transition power of livestock farmers.
