This document examines how to create a long-term strong, internationally competitive and climate-neutral steel industry in Germany. This effort shall be compatible with the long-term goal of greenhouse gas neutrality. Through this action plan, the Federal Government shows its support to the steel industry in the targeted implementation of climate protection policy in companies.
The "Steel Action Concept", which was developed by the Federal Government together with the steel industry, ties in with the "Industrial Strategy 2030" and the Climate Protection Plan 2050, the Climate Protection Program 2030 and the European Green Deal. It specifies measures that are necessary to achieve the stated goals. Some of the proposals also aim to improve competitiveness and promote transformation projects in energy-intensive industries as a whole.
