Announcement of ÖBB (100% owned by the Republic of Austria) including an investment programme of 6.1 billion euros: “With over 20% more passengers in long-distance services compared to 2019, we have a new record high. In order to make rail travel even more comfortable and to ensure quality for our passengers, around 6.1 billion euros will be invested in new and modern trains by 2030. For customers, this means around 330 new trains and more than 100,000 modern seats over the next few years”. In 2022 ÖBB transported a total of 447 million passengers in a climate and environmentally friendly way, with trains and stations that run entirely on renewable energy services.
