Japan's Basic Environmental Plan defines the principles that govern the implementation of environmental policies in Japan, especially with respect to climate change policies. It also outlines the current policy frameworks in place for government environment- and climate change-related policy matters and proposes new areas of priority for the government. The policy priorities related to climate change the plan lists include:
