Summary

This Act amends the Crown Minerals Act 1991. It bans new offshore oil and gas activities and restricts onshore permitting.


A further amendment in 2021 (Crown Minerals (Decommissioning and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2021) strengthened the requirements on the petroleum sector in relation to decommissioning of petroleum infrastructure and wells at the end of a petroleum permit or licence.
