This document establishes the legal regime applicable to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of its components. It notably seeks to shield it from the adverse effects of climate change.
Article 58 economic instruments and incentives of a non-monetary nature are intended to encourage the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of its components, from a perspective of environmental sustainability and solidarity between generations. The instruments and incentives provided for in the previous number may include the creation of fees for services rendered, payments for environmental services, carbon credit mechanisms, transfer of technology or methodologies necessary for the conservation of biodiversity.
