The Eighth Five-Year Plan outlines Bangladesh's development strategy from July 2020 to June 2025. It aims to promote prosperity and inclusivity, strongly focusing on sustainable development and resilience to climate change. The plan revolves around six core themes:
i) Rapid recovery from COVID-19.
ii) Accelerating GDP growth, generating employment, and significantly reducing poverty through a broad-based inclusiveness strategy.
iii) Establishing a sustainable development pathway that is resilient to disasters and climate change.
iv) Ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources and effectively managing the inevitable transition to urbanisation.
v) Developing and improving critical institutions.
vi) Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets while addressing the challenges posed by the graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
