The Environmental Protection Law aims at protecting and preserving the quality and natural balance of the Qatari environment, to develop natural resources and protect biodiversity, to protect the population and human health, and to protect the environment from the harmful impact of activities happening abroad. The Law also aims at combating "the effects of pollution in its various forms, and prevent damage as well as instant and long-term environmental effects of construction, industrial, agricultural and economical activities.' The country's mitigation efforts, including carbon capture and storage, are regulated by this law.
