The Framework builds on the experience of the Fiji Sovereign Green Bond issued in 2017. It creates a robust taxonomy for green, blue, and social projects, developed to demonstrate how Fiji select, finance and/ or re-finance eligible projects to deliver focussed social and environmental benefits which are in close alignment with national SDG targets. Fiji plans to catalyse blended ‘blue’ finance by issuing its first-ever sovereign blue bond in mid-2022 to support the operationalisation of its National Oceans Policy, its Climate Change Policy and its 5-Year and 20-Year National Development Plans.
