Law No. 08/L-137 on Forests

This law establishes a legal basis for the sustainable management of forests and forest land. It considers forests to have an ecological function in soil and biodiversity protection, carbon sequestration and climate mitigation.It mandates the planning, protection, and use of wood and non-wood products, determines the ownership, responsibilities and obligations of forest institutions and regulates forestry-related research, supervising, inspection and sanctions.
