2024PolicyMitigationMore details
Sectors: Transport

The blueprint outlines Malaysia’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector. It includes strategies like improvements in aircraft technology, operational practices, sustainable aviation fuels, and market-based measures to achieve aviation net-zero targets by 2050.

The Blueprint aims to achieve the following objectives:

1. Chart a clear path for Malaysia to reach its net-zero targets for international aviation by 2050.

2. Align Malaysia's aviation net-zero pathway for international flights with International Civil Aviation Organization targets.

3. Develop Malaysia’s competitive advantage to become a regional hub for sustainable aviation.

4. Ensure that Malaysian operators are not unfairly burdened and have access to viable solutions for meeting decarbonization targets.

5. Provide measures for the reduction of domestic emissions, as guided by the Nationally Determined Contributions and the Long-Term Low Emissions Development Strategy.

Examples:
Resilient infrastructure, Fossil fuel divestment, Net zero growth plan, Sustainable fishing
