Joint Decision 1529.24 on Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and mandatory energy labeling requirements for air conditioners

Launched

From March 2025, air conditioners and refrigerators sold are required to display an energy label. The labels are part of Morocco's energy efficiency and green transition strategy. The regulation also introduced performance requirements, which will be implemented in phases.

Minimum Energy Performance Standards (Decree No. 1529.24)

Codes and standards are regulatory instruments that specify minimum standards to protect health and safety. This ranges from performance standards, which prescribe outcomes while allowing flexibility to achieve compliance, to the more prescriptive approach of technology-specific standards.
