The goal of this strategy is to provide guidance on disaster risk management interventions in Tanzania in order to enhance socio-economic resilience and humanitarian responses. It also seeks to promote coherence between climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development to prevent new and reduce existing and future disaster risks. The strategy provides for a multi-hazard, multi-sectoral, and whole-of-society approach to disaster risk management to achieve resilience for sustainable development at all levels, from national to village level. By adopting a multi-hazard approach, this strategy aims to build resilience to more than one type of risk and to use resources more efficiently.
