Summary

The Roadmap aims to accelerate Malaysia's shift to sustainable energy, boosting climate resilience and national prosperity. Through the Responsible Transition Pathway 2050, the Roadmap seeks to transition from fossil fuels to low-carbon alternatives. It includes 50 initiatives, 6 energy transition levers, 5 enablers, and 10 flagship projects, with funding through grants, loans, incentives, and investments.

The NETR sets out four guiding principles:

  • Align the energy sector with Malaysia’s national and sustainability goals.
  • Ensure inclusive, cost-effective transition benefits for all. It recognises the challenges faced by low-income and vulnerable populations, ensuring that the benefits and opportunities from the energy transition extend to all segments of society.
  • Foster effective governance and stakeholder collaboration. Collaboration among all stakeholders is essential to create a dynamic energy industry ecosystem that supports sustainability and facilitates the transition to a low-carbon economy.
  • Generate high-impact jobs and support small and medium enterprises' involvement.
