The Central African Republic's government is firmly committed to promoting gender equality and eliminating violence against women. The initial National Adaptation Plan (NAP) establishes gender sensitivity as one of its guiding principles and proposes some concrete actions to advance gender integration into adaptation policies and programs in the coming years. However, despite institutional progress, gender inequalities persist. This National Gender and Climate Change Strategy (NGCCS) was developed to address this weakness and help accelerate the implementation of actions to integrate gender into climate policies. The NGCS is a planning document for all actions in the field of gender and climate change. It defines the Central African Republic's vision on gender issues related to climate change, in accordance with the guidelines of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
