Summary

The National Plan for the Comprehensive Management of Disaster Risk Reduction 2024-2034 - Plan GIRRDD - aims to strengthen prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery and rehabilitation in Guatemala; linking institutional actions of the public, academic and scientific sectors, private sector, cooperation and civil society, in the management of disaster risk reduction at different levels, contributing to the protection and achievement of sustainable development.Its specific goals are:

  • Systematically identify and assess risks to achieve the strengthening of institutional and community capacities in risk reduction management.
  • Promote a culture of resilience at all levels of society based on the human rights-based approach at all territorial levels.
  • Determine indicators and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness of implemented actions, adjusting strategies as necessary.
