This act requires the government to create national safety standards for dams and reservoirs to prevent disasters, allows subnational governments to designate dams and reservoirs as being "in danger" and requires them to create master plans for dam and reservoir management, and requires the Minister of Public Safety and Security to create a plan for supporting research and development of technology to improve dam and reservoir safety.
