Royal Decree-Law 14/2022 on economic sustainability measures in the field of transport, in terms of scholarships and study aid, as well as measures for saving, energy efficiency and reducing the energy dependence of the natural gas
Summary
This decree was adopted following the energy and economic shocks brought by the COVID-19 crisis and the war in Ukraine. It takes a wide-ranging array of measures aiming at saving energy and reducing emissions. Among these measures are the following:
the limitation of heating and cooling temperatures is modified to 19 and 27 ºC, respectively. In this sense, it is estimated that each degree in which the temperature setpoint is changed, which implies a lower need for heating or cooling, can lead to a saving of 7% in consumption.
Encourage the electrification of energy systems, allowing for an enhanced penetration of renewables, use of biogas and auto-consumption.
increase inspections with regard to the application of energy efficiency dispositions in buildings
A decrease in public transport fees.
