The Danish Forest Act aims at sustainable use of natural resources, the conservation of biodiversity, climate change mitigation and adaptation. To enforce sustainability in forest management, it provided the basis for the implementation of national plans on the further development of the forest timber industry, information, guidance and research as well as overall sustainable forest management.
More recently, it was amended by the Act amending the Law on Natural and Environmental Appeal Board and various other Acts (2012). The text of the act was consolidated as the Forest Act (2013).
It also implements EU environmental legislation.
