One of the main focuses of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's climate adaptation work is to spread knowledge and strengthen incentives for work with nature-based solutions.
Action objectives:
• The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is based on nature's ability to contribute to reducing negative effects of a changing climate through nature-based solutions through measures that simultaneously strengthen biodiversity and promote human well-being.
• The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's climate adaptation work shall contribute to the implementation of the Swedish Climate Act - to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases by preserving, managing and creating new functions in the environment.
• Climate adaptation is an integral part of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's acquisition and property management of state property, in the protection and management of protected areas and in the coordination and development of outdoor life issues.
• The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency shall, through environmental monitoring and environmental analysis, work to ensure that changes in species and ecosystems as a result of a changing climate can be detected and explained.
• Climate adaptation is integrated into the application of the Environmental Code through planning, assessment and supervision.
