Brunei Darussalam's Twelfth National Development Plan 2024-2029 aims to guide socioeconomic development across sectors during its implementation period, enhancing economic growth and wellbeing. Among the six major 'thrusts' of the plan it names climate change response (mitigation and adaptation) and reduced fossil fuel dependence as key priorities. In addition to providing overarching strategic directions, it promotes numerous funded environmental programmes such as green building initiatives, solar-powered government facilities, afforestation efforts and the creation of a carbon trading system centred on the forest stock.
