This strategy provides transparency to the UAE Net Zero 2050 strategic initiative and other national climate change adaptation strategies. It places Net Zero by 2050 as the primary goal of UAE’s decarbonization efforts and aims to develop a Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) initiative to oversee its implementation. These decarbonisation efforts involve 1) increasing energy efficiency in the transport, industry and building sectors by promoting the use of renewable energy sources, public transport and fuel transition initiatives, 2) developing Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) for high emitting industries and 3) improving waste management by increasing recycling and reuse and decreasing waste production.
