The Disaster Management act establishes a framework for the management of natural disasters. Several measures of prevention, preparedness, coordination and mitigation are defined to deal with natural emergencies (flood, erosion, wildfires, etc) at national and provincial levels. These include disaster management plans, declarations of disasters and recovery plans.<br><br>The act further establishes the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit and the National Disaster Relief Trust Fund. It sets these institutions' respectives missions and prerogatives.

Climate change can have a range of impacts on technological system. Extreme weather events can cause infrastructure failures like power outages or damage to roads and bridges, as well as the impacts from waste following natural disasters. Human activities also cause technological impacts, such as the risks posed by oil spillage and leaks.

Climate change can increase the frequency and severity of some geohazards, such as landslides, and soil erosion.
