<p>The Environmental Protection and Management Act, revised in 2022, defines a comprehensive framework on the protection and sustainable management of the environment in Brunei Darussalam. While climate change or greenhouse gases are not explicitly mentioned, it includes climatic conditions under its definition of the environment, and provides broad scope for the environment ministry to enact regulations controlling gaseous emissions. Key ecosystems such as forests, peatlands and mangroves are prescribed such that state permission must be obtained for actions impacting them.</p>
