Lebanon's National Water Sector Strategy (2024-2035) emphasises the importance of enhancing resilience to climate change in the country's water systems. By 2035 he strategy aims to: increase storage capacity; introduce a comprehensive digital monitoring system for national water usage and resources; increase hydropower production capacity by 15%; expand access and public management of water and wastewater systems; achieve a 30% energy cost reduction in the water sector through efficiency measures; and promote stronger governance in the water sector. Further adaptation-related measures include setting up a water resilience research program, and a stormwater management plan due to the increased incidence of extreme rainfall events under climate change.

'Setting Lebanon’s Electricity Sector on a Sustainable Growth Path (2022)' is a policy statement and plan by the Lebanese Ministry of Environment, based on the Least Cost Generation Plan (Ministry of Energy and Water, World Bank, EDF Energy; 2021). It promotes enhancing renewable generation capacity to meet Lebanon's climate mitigation commitments and energy demand forecasts, alongside significant natural gas development. The plan aims for a 15% renewable share in the energy mix by 2026, reaching 30% by 2030.

Lebanon's Least Cost Generation Plan (2021), written by the Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the World Bank, presents a roadmap for enhancing energy security and increasing production levels by 2030, while optimising for energy generation cost. The plan promotes increased adoption of solar and wind power, alongside hydroelectric pumped storage capacity and some natural gas development replacing more carbon-intensive fossil fuels.

Lebanon's National Agriculture Strategy (NAS). 2020-2025 recognises climate change as a major threat to the security of the agricultural sector, and names climate resilience among its five overarching pillars: restoring the livelihoods of producers; increasing agricultural production; enhancing efficiency of value chains; improving climate change adaptation and sustainable management of agrifood systems and natural resources; strengthening and enabling the institutional environment. Climate-related provisions include plans for significant afforestation, both for climate mitigation and to build landscape-level resilience, and the use of renewable energy in the agricultural sector where possible. The strategy also notes that more efficient water usage is a key element of agricultural adaptation to climate change, and promotes the adoption of modernised irrigation techniques.

This strategy was initiated and approved by Lebanon's Ministry for the Environment. It aims at reducing emissions and exposure to harmful air pollutants, including greenhouse gases.
